NFAS Scottish Championships - 11th & 12th April

Results have disappeared from the NFAS website but when they reappear I'll put them in!

Several members of Westcott Archers travelled up to Parton, in Scotland to take part in the annual Scottish Champs. Cass James and Mark Barnett met hired a static caravan along side Lock Ken and met up with Ruth McWilliam's and James Rae during their holiday to represent Westcott Archers at the champs.

The course was laid by Alan and friends from Auld Kirk Bowman. The course is a little on the hilly side and the main achivement of the weekend is getting up to your first target! But it is the most spectacular course with brilliant scenary. Last year it snowed, and two days before the shoot it was raining cats and dogs, so we were really happy to see the sky clear over the loch in time for Saturday morning.

Ruth was a touch under the weather suffering from a nasty cold which made the course hard going for her but she still did Westcott proud winning a silver medal. The medal ceremony did look like the entrance to a casulty ward with many archers limping around either with injuries they had brought with them or injuries they had pickuped up. With all the rain the course had become a little slippery. Cass seemed to get more points for sliding down (and up) hills as the rest of her group awarded her marks out of ten for gracefulness. She ended up with 27 out of 30!!!

An excellent time was had by all particularly the Indian meal that was enjoyed in the caravan at the end of the weekend. We would all recommend this shoot to all as a great start to the season - although by the end of it you certainly realise how out of practice you are!!
